Park Royal, subdivision of Clarkson Mississauaga is located between Winston Churchill Blvd and Southdown Rd, QEW and Royal Windsor Dr. It was opened on August 8, 1958 by Sir Denis H. Truscott, for whom its main street, Truscott Drive was named. It was the second subdivision opened in Clarkson.
In 1964-65 Park Royal got its major shopping centre at Truscott Dr. and Bodmin Rd. called Park Royal Plaza. Today it is the home of Food Basics, TD Bank, Rona Hardware store,Guardian Pharmacy, The Beer Store, Dairy Queen, Italian bakery, convenience store, dollar store, pizza place, flower shop and other stores and restaurants.
Next to the plaza there is Clarkson Community Centre and Arena which was opened on February 28, 1971. It's the home of Clarkson Branch Library, Clarkson Arena, a full size gymnasium, an outdoor children's water play area, skate park and variety of multipurpose rooms. Clarkson Community Centre offers many programs for all age groups. The newest addition to community centre is 25 metre, 5 lane swimming pool opened on June 18, 2011.
